After School Snacks
Are you struggling to know what to give your kids after school? Finding healthy after school snacks can sometimes be difficult.
You pick your kids up from school and one of the first things they greet you with is, ‘I’m starving’. Quite often there is no ‘how was your day mum? We have missed you today?’ I think food does seem to dominate a lot, but it’s not all their fault.
Kids use up a lot of energy through the day, they run around a lot in the playground, depending on their age of course and do sports. They also have to concentrate a lot to do their work, so need the fuel from food to support this.
Sometimes it is easy to pick them up a sugary treat like a cake or doughnut or some biscuits, just to stop them whining. But you also know that this probably isn’t the best solution, and is also only a short term measure as their blood sugar rises sharply when they eat a sugary snack, it soon plummets and they are wanting, even more, food.
On this page I am aiming to put together some balanced healthy snacks, that should keep your little ones sated for longer. I will also be bearing in mind how little time mums and dads have to make these snacks, so will endeavour to make these quick and easy to make.
